A trip to Colorado for a wedding, new fire pit
Howdy, folks! Rupert the basset hound here, back with a tail-wagging update after my little hiatus last week. I must apologize for my absence—turns out, attending a wedding is quite the undertaking for a dog of my stature! But let me tell you, it was worth every slobbery moment.
Last weekend, I took a long car ride all the way to Colorado for the wedding of Cassi, the daughter of my beloved ranch owners, and her partner, Auxanel. Now, let me just say, the scenery was spectacular! Those mountains rise like giant treats against the sky. I couldn’t help but stick my nose out the window, letting the wind ruffle my ears and fill my nostrils with all sorts of delightful smells. But as much as I enjoyed the mountain air, I was more than ready to return to my sprawling ranch home, where the grass is greener, and the smells are familiar.
When we returned from Colorado, some exciting developments started on the ranch. Jess and Jason started to build a brand-new fire pit! Oh, it’s just gorgeous—crafted from lovely flagstone and designed for all kinds of cozy gatherings. I can already imagine evenings filled with laughter, stories, and, of course, the irresistible aroma of treats roasting over the fire.
Speaking of family, I have to mention my new nephew, Otis! He’s Cassi and Auxanel’s basset hound, and we had a blast together during the wedding festivities. You might say we’re a couple of long-eared troublemakers. I’m proud to be his uncle—he’s a real charmer and can definitely hold his own in a game of tug-of-war. I can’t wait for him to come visit the ranch, especially with that new fire pit as our hangout spot.
I’ll be keeping a close eye on that fire pit. You know, for quality control purposes, of course. Perhaps I’ll even manage to sneak a few marshmallows if I’m lucky. Jess and Jason have promised that it will be a perfect spot for guests to gather around, share tales, and make memories. And let’s face it, nothing beats a good story under the stars, unless, of course, you’re napping on a sunny patch of grass—which is also a top-tier activity in my book.
So, as I settle back into my routine of patrols around the ranch and long naps in the sun, I look forward to more gatherings around the new fire pit, especially with my buddy Otis by my side. I hope you’ll join us for a bark or two by the flames. Until next time, my friends, stay wagging!
Woofingly yours,
Rupert
